Department Overview
A function of Cars.com’s Marketing department, Advertising Market Development develops compelling, data-driven selling arguments that support the Cars.com value proposition and help drive sales revenue. While primarily focused on OEM clients, the group also ensures the consistency of sales proof-points derived from macro-site analysis, competitive intelligence, primary and secondary research and syndicated reporting across all sales channels. In addition, Advertising Market Development supports its Marketing colleagues through insights and analysis that can be used to sell the value of Cars.com to non-advertiser audiences.
Currently, Advertising Market Development is seeking a part-time Associate Manager. The ideal candidate will be available to work up to 32 hours per week.
Major Responsibilities:
Client Insights & Analytics
Work with Ad Products team and AMD analyst on post-buy analyses for large campaigns that provide proof-of-value above and beyond common direct response metrics.
Develop deep understanding of all Tier 1-3 and non-OEM product offerings and effectively articulate their value to Cars.com’s sales teams and largest clients.
Work collaboratively with other AMD colleagues to package client campaign performance, site analytics, and research for external audiences.
Manages Marketplace Intel Reports for client teams.
Client & Sales Service
Coach OEM client teams on articulation of Cars.com value proposition, positioning vs. competition, and quantitative analysis/insights.
Primary Advertising Market Development contact for approximately half of the National Sales team’s OEM clients, as well as all non-OEM accounts. Provides consultation and customized, client-ready insights and analysis.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with Cars.com salespeople.
Content Development
Utilizing breadth of research and data available, creates and manages knowledge assets for the National and Dealer Sales knowledge banks that enable the sales team to provide more expertise and consultation for their clients.
Maintains the National and Dealer Sales audience stats reference guides.

The Associate Manager will interact with many teams within Cars.com, as well as with our largest customers. As a result, this position requires a client-friendly demeanor combined with strong cross-functional leadership and communications skills.
Ability to collaborate with functionally diverse teams and to keep key internal and external participants informed is critical, requiring strong professional verbal and written communication skills.
Computer
Must possess a strong aptitude for learning other software and systems.
Project Management
Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines and competing priorities
Extremely strong analytical skills with the ability to translate market research and data analysis into sales messages.
This position requires a good story teller. Must be able to quickly organize content into a clear and compelling message.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office software.
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing, market research, or business
At least 4 years of marketing experience.
Experience in online advertising and/or the automotive industry is a strong plus
Occasional travel may be require
