The Analyst/Programmer within a Center that is part of a large heatlhcare institution is responsible for the independent development and implementation of highly creative and reliable tools in order to optimize informatics solutions in a research setting. The Analyst/Programmer will independently develop solutions for an academic research organization to yield deliverables such as bioinformatic analysis modules that utilize large and complex data types, data extraction/analysis modules that are dependent on complex underlying healthcare data systems, and process-oriented modules that help to track business metrics for our service units,.
Desired experience is one or more years of systems analysis and/or programming experience with progressively more complex projects. Mastery of at least one programming language required. Working knowledge of Java and one or more of the following preferred: Perl (with BioPerl familiarity), Python, PHP, C/++. Working knowledge of relational database application development is required, including stored procedures, SQL, data definition language, basic performance tuning and query optimization, and ETL techniques. Working knowledge of model-view-controller web-based frameworks preferred e.g. Spring MVC, Struts, CGI:Application. Working knowledge of one or more of the following web application servers/containers required: JBoss, WebSphere, Tomcat. Experience with XML data management is preferred, including schema development and use, parsing, and generation. Previous experience in data modeling and applications of highly multidimensional data types such as that derived from clinical research, genomics, proteomics, or image analysis is preferred. Experience building “shrink-wrapped” configurable/installable systems is preferred. Experience in healthcare and/or biomedical data management issues is preferred. |
