The Human Resources Academic Administrator performs a full range of employment activities including coordinating the recruitment of full-time, part-time, credit and non-credit faculty, background checks, establishing initial salaries and resume audits. The incumbent will advise and explain College policies and procedures regarding employment to search committees. This position manages one confidential full-time administrative staff member who provides clerical and administrative support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Serve as a Human Resources point of contact for faculty search committees and academic offices regarding issues pertaining to all aspects of the faculty recruiting process.
? Coordinates recruitment for full-time, part-time, credit and non-credit faculty positions including the development of advertising strategies, posting positions on various mediums (electronic and paper) such as job boards, websites, and classified ads.
? Coordinates the planning of outside recruitment events such as the faculty open house and job fairs with a focus on diversity recruiting strategies.
? Responds to all candidates/applicants during the process and at the conclusion of all searches.
? Prepare comprehensive presentations for faculty search committees which encompass the College’s affirmative action, recruitment, interviewing, and hiring policies.
? Calculate all faculty retro and initial salaries. Coordinate with Deans and Vice Presidents in establishing faculty salaries. Ensures all salaries are consistent with both Collective Bargaining Agreements.
? Maintain Excel database for the full-time salary schedule.
? Maintain promotion schedule, prepare and distribute promotion letters.
? Facilitate the preparation, dissemination, and return of all faculty re-appointment/new appointment letters and non-renewal notifications.
? Manage, track, and maintain faculty sabbatical process. Distribute/disseminate all requests, responses and post results.
? Monitor and process full-time and part-time faculty unemployment claims. Analyze and participate in hearings representing the College.
? Develop and maintain up-to-date bank of job summaries for all faculty positions.
? Regularly participate in a variety of compensation surveys.
? Update the College’s catalog for all faculty listings.
? Supervise, delegate tasks, and distribute daily work assignments to support staff.
? Prepare statistical studies and reports of various personnel activities (e.g., applicant flow, time to hire, cost to hire) as well as provide information for projects by compiling and analyzing data from personnel records.
? Develop and maintain basic, routine and advanced recordkeeping systems and procedures.
? Develop and maintain strong working relationships among internal staff and external constituents.
? Other projects and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or a related field required.
• Three to five years of experience in recruitment and selection required, preferably in a higher education environment.
• Excellent computer skills, knowledge of MS Word, Excel and internet research skills required. Familiarity with enterprise-wide HR administrative system and SCT Banner preferred.
• Demonstrated organizational and project management skills required.
• Demonstrated customer service orientation with the ability to perform multiple tasks with changing priorities required.
• Experience in, and appreciation for, a collective bargaining environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience working with people from diverse backgrounds preferred.
