This is an exciting opportunity to work for a pioneering Fair Trade chocolate brand.
Divine Chocolate is the first Fair Trade Farmer Owned chocolate company. Our mission is to improve the livelihoods of West African cocoa farmers through their own branded company.
We are seeking a Part Time Financial Controller to join our small but committed team in Washington, DC. Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years experience in a commercial company and a demonstrated track record of hands on accounting experience. CPA's preferred.
We will consider flexible work schedules and telecommuting but some in office time will be required, at least one day per week for management meetings.
Primary responsibilities include overseeing AR and AP, managing cash position, producing reports for senior management on company performance, budgeting, performing month ending reconciliations and producing monthly financial statements and management accounts.
Responsibilities consist of the following:
Oversee AR and AP.
Oversee collections and determine credit eligibility of customers
Prepare and analyze financial statements/operating results against budget
Managing cash position.
Prepare month end closing and reports. Prepare monthly financial statements and management accounts.
Work with departments to prepare yearly budgets and financial goals
Develop accounting policies and procedures as needed.
Establish new general ledger accounts as necessary.
Coordinate annual audit and make recommendations for procedural improvements
Prepare reports and schedules to assist external auditors with tax filings and annual financial statements
Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
2. Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Masters Degree in Finance or Accounting, five to ten years of experience in finance or accounting position, CPA.
